Remembering Mt .Moriah....
A bequest in your will can ensure the commitment of Masonry to provide education above and beyond that which is offered in mainstream society. Your revocable bequest can insure that men not yet born are enabled to be raised to the highest degree that the fraternity of mankind can offer to its citizens, just as at one time it was rendered upon you. Help us carry on the work of the G. A. O. T. U.
Please consider donating to maintain the source for teaching the ideals of which this country was founded on and of which the Masonic concordant bodies would not exist without. From the East
Brethren,
Well, we are off to a great start at Mount Moriah this year. We had a very good stated meeting and had our annual budget approved. We also raised brother Brian Morrow to the sublime degree of Master Mason in a very nice degree. I would like to congratulate everyone who participated in that ritual. It was really a fine example of what a Master Mason degree should be like and we should all be proud of the quality of the work we did that evening. I would like to congratulate our JW Keir Hales for the terrific dinner he prepared (with the help of his wife Jen, thanks Jen). It was different and a great experience to try all of the different foods from Australia. Keep up the good work Keir. We also had our HTA meeting followed by our monthly officers meeting, and began our preparations for the GMOV. February promises to be busy as we have our annual joint communication with Acacia lodge for George Washington observance and fellowship dinner. We will be having another Master Mason degree this month for Buzz Ingram on the 8th. I have been working with Buzz on his proficiency and he is doing well. In closing I would like to thank all of the officers for the outstanding work that I am witnessing in our lodge. I have been to almost all of the lodges in southern Nevada and I believe our work is second to none. Let's keep that going and try to do even better. I would also like to wish Worshipful Brother Harry Christopher a very speedy recovery. Harry is an icon in Nevada masonry and a “Mason's Mason.” Get well soon Harry...we need your guidance and skill in lodge. Last but not
Least I would like to thank the PM's of Mount Moriah for their support and cooperation. We couldn't do what we do without you.
It wouldn't be proper to finish my post without thanking our tireless secretary WB Mike Harris for all of his hard work and dedication to the lodge. Thanks for helping me keep everything in order and for all you do for our lodge. All that is left to say is "see you at the lodge".
Chuck Barone
Worshipful Master
From the West
Greetings From the West Fellow Brethren,
We've had a good start this year. We raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason brother Morrow and he will forever have the distinction of being the first one for Mount Moriah#39 for the year 2012.
Superb dinner from our Junior Warden Keir Hales. February, some experts say, is the month of love: let us not forget our loved ones and families, likewise the Brotherly Love that we must nurture at all times. If you know of a Brother that is down, sick or in distress give him a call or maybe visit if possible. At times a telephone call would be sufficient, to let him or them know that there are Brothers that care.
In addition. there are Brothers that are still in need of continuance with their Degrees or Proficiency, that extra attention is also needed and encourages them to complete their work.
Lots of things coming our way; George Washington Birthday, Widow's Dinner and our soiree with the Brothers from Acacia Lodge to keep us busy through the first quarter of this calendar year. Hoping to see newer faces and some old familiar faces coming to our Lodge, as usual we should always welcome them and share our hospitality. I will try to visit some other lodges within the next couple of months and see how the other Brethren are and will continue my coaching with brother Nestor. That is all I have for now and see you at the Lodge.
Fraternally and Sincerely Yours,
Isaias R.Vargas JR
Senior Warden
From the South
Brethren,
Whereas January’s dinner was Australian fare in honor of Australia Day, this month’s dinner will be on February 15th and will be a fellowship dinner with our brethren of Acacia lodge who will also be hosting the dinner this year in honor of that all American brother and leader of the free world, George Washington.
It is an honor to sit in the South. When a new candidate or brother is advancing to the next degree of Freemasonry, his first encounter after entering the lodge is in the South. The candidate’s first encounter is the duty of the Junior Warden. It is his responsibility to see that the candidate is in order and qualified to advance. Immediately after a brother has taken his obligation and successfully advanced in Freemasonry, he is again conducted to the Junior Warden who has the first duty to ensure that the newly made brother is secure in the instruction that he has just received. In each situation it is indeed my honor and privilege to pass the new brother to the Senior Warden and in so doing, I am the first to congratulate him on a job well done thus far and the first to show my friendship and trust that he will continue to bring honor to the craft.
Fraternally,
Keir Hales
Junior Warden
From the Secretary
Brothers,
I sure hope everyone is enjoying the year so far. January proved to be a good month with good fellowship, good degree work, and even mild weather. We got to raise a brother and present another with a longevity award for his Masonic Service. I do believe we will be handing several more out this year and look forward to seeing some familiar faces.
As some of you know, we are having a Superbowl Party at the lodge and will be serving food and drink, there will be tickets sales for entrance and will cover the cost of food and drinks, and a supplemental insurance policy. Please bring your family and come join us and see the two teams battle it out. Sorry for the delay in getting dues cards out, I have been swamped, but fear not you will receive them shortly.
I Also wanted to welcome back Rich Lyles, who had been living in Texas and Louisiana on some business projects, but has recently returned home to Henderson and taken a job locally and we should be seeing him back in lodge in the near future; as well as another long missing brother, Walt Ireland, who tells me he is indeed returning home from Israel in the very near future. If you’ve missed their smiling faces like I have, then get out to lodge and welcome them home.
Fraternally,
Mike Harris PM
Secretary
